Silt fences are the most commonly used geotextile for erosion control in residential and commercial construction. Silt fences are designed to block the sediment while letting the water slowly flow through the fabric.

ACF West
ACF West DOT “Supported” Silt Fence, WB-2130 uses a woven fabric attached with steel hog rings to galvanized steel support mesh. The fabric is a woven network of polypropylene fibers, stabilized to resist degradation due to ultraviolet exposure, and resistant to commonly encountered soil chemicals, mildew and insects. It is non-biodegradable and is stable within a ph range of 2-13.

Propex
Geotex 2130, produced by Propex, is a polypropylene woven flat tape silt fence fabric that meets AASHTO
M-288 Standards for silt fence usage. This engineered fabric is stabilized to resist degradation due to
ultraviolet exposure. It is resistant to commonly encountered soil chemicals, mildew and insects, and is
non-biodegradable. Polypropylene is stable within a pH range of 2 to 13, making it one of the most stable
polymers available for geotextiles today.
