About ACF West Supplies Oil Absorbent Booms To Gulf Coast
Booms Just The Beginning
As the effects of the BP oil spill continue to develop along the Gulf Coast; the need for containment and clean-up solutions continues to be a top priority.
Acting in response to this unprecedented need, ACF West began working in May to supply local contractors in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida with oil absorbent booms. And, while demand for booms remains high in the stricken region; ACF West has also initiated research into supplying more specialized containment and clean-up products.
In a five day trip to the Gulf, ACF West Sales Specialist David Strode met with local contractors to gain further perspective on the spill’s effects both in water and on land. During his visit, David assisted in demoing new spill products from absorbent polymers and liquid additives. These product alternatives have proven effective and environmentally safe.
One key product David demoed during his time along the Gulf Coast was the NAPLmat from Huesker Inc. Well received by local contractors, the NAPLmat is an oil absorbent pad with non-woven fabric on each side. This non-woven fabric not only holds the pad together it also attracts and draws in oil. The pictures provided below demonstrate the absorbency of this newly introduced product.
It is ACF West’s hope that as the Gulf Coast moves forward in the process of containment and clean-up; that we continue to provide support through the supply of products like NAPLmat.
Although many miles from the devastation of the oil spill, ACF West is committed to providing quality products to the recovery effort.
